Red Tank Road is one of the main arteries of the Whakarewarewa Forest. If you are dawdling skywards, or on your gravel bike, or really rooted, it is a pleasant enough way to get from A (Nursery Road) to B (the big clearing at the top of the Rude).
It is called Red Tank Road because halfway up, on the corner of Larch Road, is a funky old water tank with an original coat of red oxide colour overlaid with the stains and graffiti of long life.
It is a landmark, and a runner mate of ours asked for a print when we did this sketch. So here it is!
