One of favourite places to hang out in the forest near our place is a trail called Old Chevy. I was part of the team that built the trail, and yet I have no idea where it got its name. It is in a beautiful stand of Douglas Fir, with a cathedral-like feeling of peace and quiet, broken only by the huffing and puffing of mountain bikers on the many steep and tricky little climbs.
A nice way of sampling it without so much effort is by taking the trail called Homeward Bound, which skirts the hard bits but digs into the vibe of the place.
