Molteni is an Italian family business that makes salami. They started a cycling team in 1958 and had successes in the classics with Michele Dancelli and the Giro with Vittorio Adorni, and in many sprint finishes via Marino Basso. Then they signed Eddy Merckx in 1970 along with most of his Belgian team-mates from the folded Italian Faemino team. That move made the team arguably the most successful in history - due in the main to Merckx's phenomenal run while in the tan and navy kit.
